FATAL is a tricky packing puzzle designed by dr. Volker Latussek and Oskar van Deventer. The goal is simple: fit all five Pentomino pieces into the cage. But the puzzle is much more confusing than it first appears. The cage has six large openings, while there are only five pieces, so it is not immediately clear which openings are useful and which ones are there just to mislead you. The pieces have unusual “fat” shapes, and finding the right moves to get them inside is surprisingly difficult. Even when you think you understand the cage, the solution refuses to appear easily. Despite the dramatic name, there is nothing deadly about FATAL — except maybe the frustration of trying to solve it. Details Designers: dr.
